RedFizz

Background

RedFizz Homepage RedFizz Messages Page
There are a lot of sites where unsigned bands can upload their tracks in an attempt to get a bigger audience. The music is free to download, but these sites tend to cater more to the bands than to critics. Since these sites also tend to have thousands of virtually uncategorized tracks, finding anything worth finding isn't easy. Add that to the fact that critics are essentially prevented from giving negative reviews, and it almost makes you want to give up before you start.

Project Summary

Bands supply the tracks, but RedFizz is about helping the critics find their voice (and new music, of course). Instead of letting users sift through tens of thousands of songs, RedFizz focuses discussion on a single song at a time. Everyday a new song is given away free, and critics can rate it and make comments. A simple interface supported by AJAX allows all core site functionality to be done directly on the homepage without the need to reload.

All critics' ratings and comments are tracked, so if you find someone who you agree with, you can see what other tracks they liked.
